Exceptional red chinoiserie desk circa 1930
An exceptional red lacquer chinoiserie desk / dressing table formerly the property of Lady Keeble dating probably early 1930s we have paperwork for 16th June 1936 in Fowey Cornwall and a key label for the London residence in 160B Gloucester Road 10 years later Sept 1946 . Height measurement to the very slim top is 70 cms and beneath the top to the floor is 68 cms . ( chair space ) We have undertaken some small restorations of the lacquer details but appart from that it is in original condition complete with Key . A letter from Lillah Keeble to Kenneth Clark is in the Tate archive . Lillah Keeble was formerly an English actress and theatre manager who ran the Savoy theatre 1912-1914 she married Sir Kenneth Keeble a Botanist in 1920 and retired from the stage
This desk/ dressing table is in excellent condition with wonderful patina particularly to the top .
